A new look for the Allegro-trains

31.1.2019 16.01

The Allegro-trains, which have operated between Helsinki and St. Petersburg since 2010, bring the east and the west only a three and a half hour train ride from each other. Trains that have been in operation for almost ten years, carrying countless passengers for business and leisure travel, needed a refreshing look and added travel comfort. The trains were to be transformed from mere travel to a place to enjoy.

Brand ID created a new look in collaboration with VR and Karelian Trains Ltd. The four Allegro-trains were renewed during the end of 2018 and early 2019, and trains with a new look now carry passengers more comfortably between Helsinki and St. Petersburg.
The outer shells of the trains were renewed with over-taping, which must withstand the extreme conditions from the scorching summer to the freezing cold of winter. It took over 1000 m2 of decal to tape the exterior of the 180-meter train assembly.

While the tapes on the exterior are at the mercy of the weather, the tapes on the inside walls must withstand hundreds of thousands of passengers. In addition to high abrasion resistance, the materials used are fire-rated to maintain passenger safety and in order to maintain a fresh look the materials are also graffiti-protected.

Over 4,000m2 of the sticker was used to renew the interior and exterior of the entire train complex. The installation of the labels was done by skilled installers of Brand ID on a turnkey basis.
